Processor- Is the main part of the computer and is the most need thing to allow the computer to work. It allows the computer to set up a program. Also it can be called a CPU ( Central Processing Unit ) which is found on the Motherboard as its the only place it fits.
Motherboard- The Motherboard holds the memory and the CPU. In addition it allows the computer to function correctly as its vital to the running of the computer. It also has connectors for other boards to be connected to.
BIOS - This allows the computer to work and function quicker and has a basic input and output which helps start up a PC. Furthermore it has all the codes which allow the control of different parts of a computer, such as the display screen, keyboard etc. The BIOS is placed into the computer when you receive it, this is done for convenience and also to ensure no damage is done to it.
Fan and Heat Sink- Allows the computer to not overheat. It is designed to lower the temperature of the components which is vital to the life of the computer but also allows nothing to get damaged which is included in every computer.
IDE- IDE (integrated development environment) is a application programme which is used for graphical uses to the computer. this is compatible with other functions of a computer to ensure the computer runs correctly. for examples IDE can be used with HTML to help things like websites being designed.
SATA- Short for Serial ATA. The SATA is used to manage and store data. It allows more storage to be saved on a computer and also is uded to improve disk space. It is all done by the computer, this saves people time going through it and trying to fix it.
Ports: Parallel & Serial- Ports are used to connect external components, this is able to give connection to different monitors or projectors. They are normally found in projectors as they have a good connection but also is very strong and sometimes come with screws o be more secure.
Internal Memory ROM - ROM is a program which can be changed a user. The ROM will keep its memory even when the computer is switched off and stores the instructions even when the computer is switched back on.
Internal Memory RAM is a fast way of memory in which programs for data is saved, for example apps, operating systems and GUI's ( Graphical User Interface)
Internal Memory Cache- Is used to make the computer quicker and to get applications quicker and makes accessing data quicker. this allows quick transfers which enables the user to use the computer quicker and for other things.
Hard Drive- Is where you can store data. and is a disk drive used to read from a hard disk. They are becoming more common to store data as they are a cheap but effective way of getting more memory storage.
Network Card- Simply connects the computer to a network through LAN or WPA. It can be connected by wires or through wireless connectivity.
Graphics Card- A graphics card is a printed circuit board which allows output to display things on a screen. Sometimes a graphics card is used to improve the display on the screen and allows more to be seen as it improves definition.
Power Supply- Supplies electricity to a electrical load. Its used to convert energy and can be used to provide energy to a computer. This is the only way information can be displayed on a computer.
